Slow cooker spiced chicken stew with carrots

This recipe came from Everyday Foods March 09. I only have regular raisins on hand so I haven't tried this with golden raisins like the recipe calls for.

Slow-cooker spiced chicken stew with carrots

2 lbs carrots
4 chicken breasts
1 garlic clove
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 C golden raisins (or regular is fine too)
1/4 C  sliced almonds
1/2 C cilantro leaves
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 C couscous for serving

Peel carrots and cut into  1 1/2" lengths. Thinly slice the garlic clove. Place carrots in slow-cooker. In a bowl toss together chicken garlic, cinnamon stick, cumin, salt and pepper; add to slow-cooker. Cover and cook on high 4 hours or low 8 hrs. Add the raisins 15 mins before cooking is done. Using a slotted spoon take out chicken and carrots. Disgard cinnamon stick. Place chicken and carrots in a bowl and garnish with cilantro, almonds and raisins. Season the cooking liquid with some salt and pepper. Spoon some over the chicken. Serve with couscous.
*Cook couscous according to package directions*
